Nutrigenomics
Personalised & genetic nutrition
Long before nutrient panels and supplement aisles, people ate by instinct – seasonally, locally, guided by what the body and the land signalled rather than by marketing. Nutrigenomics works with that same relationship between your genes and the food you eat, using modern tools to make visible what used to be intuitive. Your DNA contains variations that affect how your body processes nutrients, clears toxins, manages inflammation, and responds to stress. These differences explain why some people thrive on certain foods while others don’t, or why particular dietary patterns work for one person but not another.
How nutrigenomics works
Gene expression responds to what you eat, how you live, and what you’re exposed to, and specific genetic variations (SNPs) affect processes like methylation, detoxification, inflammation, neurotransmitter production, and blood sugar regulation. Some variations affect how well you convert folate into its active form, impacting mood, energy, and cognitive function. Others affect dopamine breakdown, influencing stress tolerance and mental clarity. Some affect inflammatory responses, showing up as pain, fatigue, or slow recovery.
When you know which variations you carry, you can adjust what you eat to support what your body struggles with – giving your system what it needs based on how you’re built rather than general dietary guidelines.
What Nutrigenomics Helps With
For energy, mood & inflammation
- Chronic fatigue and low energy
- Anxiety and chronic stress
- Mood instability and low mood
- Brain fog and concentration difficulties
- Inflammatory conditions and chronic pain
- Digestive issues and food sensitivities
- Hormonal imbalances and cycle-related symptoms
- Poor stress recovery and burnout
- Sleep disturbances and circadian rhythm issues
- Metabolic and detoxification pathways
Most people come to nutrigenomics when standard dietary advice hasn’t changed what they’re experiencing. They’ve tried elimination diets, supplements, or popular eating patterns without lasting results. They want to understand why their body responds the way it does and what might work for them specifically.
What to Expect With Nutrigenomics
A personalised nutrition plan
The process begins with a DNA test – a simple cheek swab sent to a lab for analysis. Results typically take 2-3 weeks. Once your genetic report comes back, we go through what the data shows and what it means for you practically.
I translate the genetic variations into practical recommendations: which nutrients you need more of, which foods support or hinder specific processes in your body, and how to structure eating patterns around your nervous system, inflammation response, and metabolic tendencies. This includes supplements where gaps exist, but the focus is on food first.
Recommendations are built around your life, your preferences, and what’s sustainable. Genetic data doesn’t change, but how you work with it can evolve over time. Follow-up sessions refine the approach based on what’s moving in your body and what feels manageable long-term.
Nutrigenomics vs Standard Nutritional Therapy
Why conventional dietary advice has its limits
Standard nutritional therapy uses symptom assessment, dietary analysis, and functional testing – blood work, stool tests, and similar markers – to identify imbalances and build nutrition plans. It’s a well-established approach and for many people it’s a useful starting point. Therapeutic dietary protocols take this further, using specific food-based interventions to address inflammation, gut health, hormonal patterns, and nervous system function. Both have their place.
Nutrigenomics works upstream of all of them. Rather than identifying what’s gone wrong and working backwards, it shows you where your body has structural vulnerabilities before they become entrenched. Instead of trial and error with foods, elimination protocols, or supplements, you’re working from data about how your body is built. Genetic information works alongside functional testing to give a foundation that doesn’t change, so you’re not constantly recalibrating from scratch every time symptoms change.
The other difference is specificity. General nutrition advice assumes everyone processes nutrients the same way. Nutrigenomics accounts for the fact that your need for B vitamins, omega-3s, antioxidants, or specific amino acids may be significantly higher or lower than someone else’s, based on your genetic efficiency at processing them. What looks like a balanced diet for one person may be leaving another chronically under-supported.
A Whole-System Approach
Nervous system, brain & biology
Inside The Happy Reset® Inherited Patterns Project, Nutrigenomics sits alongside Tension & Trauma Release and Brainspotting. Genetic data tells you how your body is built – but knowing what to do with that information, and how to translate it into food that works for your nervous system, your stress patterns, and your day-to-day life, is where the practical work happens. The focus is always food first, with supplementation used to address what food alone can’t cover. Sessions are built around your genetic data, your history, and what your body is communicating now.
Training & practice
As a certified Nutrigenomics practitioner trained through LifecodeGX, and a qualified Healing Diets Coach, I work with genetic data alongside food-based therapeutic protocols to support inflammation, gut health, hormonal patterns, and nervous system function. That training sits alongside my own lineage, where food was medicine – eaten by season and instinct rather than instruction.
Sessions are offered in person and online throughout the UK.
Tension Release
Body
Your body remembers the story, and already knows how to release it
More
Your nervous system holds onto stress, trauma and tension – often for years. Tension and trauma release works with your body’s own innate mechanism for discharging what’s been stored, without needing to talk it through or relive it. Clients often notice a physical sense of release during the first session, and the effects build over time as the nervous system recalibrates.
Brainspotting
Mind
Breakthroughs happen in spaces your brain already knows it has access to
More
Brainspotting uses your eye position to access where emotional and somatic material is held in the brain. It works with pathways that talking alone can’t reach, which is why it often gets to patterns that years of conventional therapy haven’t moved. The processing happens internally – your brain does the work, the rest unfolds, you just have to be in the room.
Nutrigenomics
Nutrition
What if you need different nutrients and foods to everyone else?
More
Your genetic makeup determines how you process nutrients, handle stress hormones, and regulate energy. Nutrigenomics maps that picture so we can build an approach around your biology rather than generic guidelines. No two people get the same plan, as no two people have the same genetic profile. For most clients, this is the piece nobody else has ever looked at.
The Impact Of This Work
Across one-to-one sessions, corporate workshops and keynote experiences, people notice genuine transformation - better sleep, clearer thinking, stronger resilience and sustainable change. The Happy Reset® method works because it addresses your whole system, not just symptoms. The feedback I receive from happy clients, reflects what happens when people finally feel supported in a way that makes sense for their unique bodies, mind and wiring.
